The surf coast north of Agadir, from Tamraght to Taghazout and on toward Imsouane, driven at your own pace.
North of Agadir the beach resort strip gives way to a surf coast: Tamraght first, then Taghazout village itself, then a longer run up toward Imsouane. Anchor Point and Banana Beach, the two breaks most people are driving up for, sit right off the Taghazout waterfront, so you do not need to go far to see what the fuss is about.
Having your own car changes this coast more than most. The surf towns are small and walkable once you are there, but getting between them, or choosing a quieter break on a crowded day, is far easier with a car in hand than with the shared grand taxis that run the route.
The coast road between Agadir, Tamraght and Taghazout is a single sealed artery. It carries surf vans, local traffic and tour buses together, and it gets noticeably busier on weekends.
The village streets are narrow and fill up fast in season. Arrive early for a spot near the beach road, or be ready to walk a short distance from wherever you find one.
A short detour off the coast road into the hills behind Tamraght and Taghazout brings you into argan woodland, a good reason to have your own car rather than stick to the shoreline.
Imsouane is further still, a longer stretch of the same single road. Leaving Agadir early in the day keeps the drive relaxed instead of rushed.
“Having the car meant we could try Banana Beach one morning and move to a quieter spot near Tamraght the next without waiting for a taxi.”
Freya, Bristol
“Parking in Taghazout itself was the only tricky part. We ended up leaving the car a short walk out and it was fine.”
Marco, Turin

Yes, the coast road is a single sealed route the whole way. You do not need anything larger than a standard car, just patience on weekends when it gets busy.
About 20 minutes up the coast road in normal traffic, with Tamraght sitting roughly two thirds of the way there. Imsouane is a further stretch again, worth starting early for.
